The Second Lunar Analysis Laboratory Workshop (LAL-II), held in Dijon, France, originated from discussions and ideas that evolved from the earlier first Workshop on A Lunar-Based Chemical Analysis Laboratory (then called LBCAL-I), which had convened at College Park, Maryland some three years earlier. The Second Lunar Analysis Laboratory Workshop was held in conjunction with the International Conference on Space Exploration and the Future of Humans in Space, in Dijon, which immediately preceded this Workshop.
